Did you know there are people called “extreme couponers?” These are people who will just not buy anything unless they have a coupon that will save them money. Some of these people will even compete with one another to see who can save the most in a given period of time. They might even fight over rally good deals!
While you don’t have to go to this kind of extreme you can stretch your budget much further by the use of money-saving coupons.
Grocery coupons
You can make your food shopping dollars go much further with grocery coupons. Your local newspaper may have a weekly feature on food, which is usually accompanied by coupons. You can also go online and find numerous printable coupons. In this case, you will want to go to the websites of these stores where you usually shop. Grocery stores such as Target and Kroger have coupons every week that you can print out and take with you when you go shopping. Some of these coupons can be quite helpful. For example as of this writing, Target was offering a 4 GB Xbox 360 Kinext Bundle for $279.00 online. It also had coupons where you could save $1.10 when you bought two Nestles Coffee-Mate® Flavored Coffee Creamers and $0.55 if you bought one package of Hillshire Farms Launch Meat.
If you don’t have time to find coupons
If you’re one of those hassled and harried people who just doesn’t have time to sit around cutting out coupons or hunting for them online, you can actually buy coupons. For example, Buycoupons.org offers coupons for everything from McDonald’s to Sweet Leaf Iced Teas. Of course, you will have to pay for these coupons but they are priced in such a way that you will still save money using them.
Another good site for coupons is The Coupon Clippers (thecouponclippers.com). The coupons you will find on this site generally cost $0.10 or $0.12 but have a value of at least $1. As of this writing, the site also had a coupon that cost $0.40 but had a value of $11.99 on a Gillette Mach 3 Razor Cartridge 5-Pack.
Buy coupons in bulk
There are also websites where you can buy coupons in bulk for items you use regularly. Again, using as an example The Coupon Clippers, you could buy 10 coupons for $1 and save $4.00 on your next 10 purchases of SoftSoap Body Wash. Since it’s summer, you might want to stock up on Popsicle Yosicle 12-packs where for $0.75 you can buy five coupons and save $4.25 on your next five 12-packs. That would be 60 packs of Popsicles to keep your kids happy and quiet.
Pick a red plum
Our local newspaper has a section on Wednesdays called Red Plum. It’s always full of money-saving coupons. If your newspaper does not have the Red Plum section or if you don’t subscribe to a newspaper, you can go to the Red Plum website (http://coupons.redplum.com/) where you will find printable coupons. As an example of these coupons, Red Plum recently had coupons that would save you money on liquid laundry detergent, MetaRX bars, Centrum Silver, L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun product and many other such products.
While saving $.30 here and $.40 there may not seem like a big deal, these savings do add up. If you save just $.40 each on 10 items and $.50 each on 10 items, you’ve just saved almost $10. Multiply that by 4 weeks and you’ve saved $40.
