Credit cards for fair credit are cards for people who have what would be called a “fair” credit rating, which are usually those who have a FICO score of at least 600 and who pay their loans, credit cards and other bills on time. If you haven’t had a credit history for more than three years so that you have been unable to get beyond the “fair” level or if you’ve made some credit mistakes along the way, one of these cards could be your best choice.
Are you creditworthy?
Your credit score and FICO score represent how creditworthy you are and are only one indicator of the type of credit you could get. However, your credit score alone does not guarantee or even indicate that you will be approved for any specific credit card offer.
One of the credit cards for fair credit is the Capital One® Cash Rewards Card. In fact, it is considered by some to be the best of the credit cards for fair credit.
Capital One Cards for fair credit
The Capital One Cash Rewards Card offers a 50% bonus on the cash back you earn every year, a 1% cash back on all purchases and the fact that you can redeem cash back any time for any amount and even have automatic redemptions. You can personalize this card with the image of your choice and it offers 0% intro APR on purchases that you make until March of 2013.
A second of the popular credit cards for fair credit is the Capital One Classic Platinum® Credit Card. This card also has a 0% intro APR on all purchases made until March 2013. It offers $0 fraud liability if your card is lost or stolen and several Platinum benefits such as 24-hour roadside assistance and extended warranty protection. You can pick an image for your Classic Platinum Credit card or add your own.
First Premier Bank®
A third choice in credit cards for fair credit is the First Premier Bank® MasterCard Credit Card. If you apply for this card and are approved, you pay a $95 processing fee to open the account and this gives you access to a $300 credit limit. The good news here is that even if you have only fair credit, there are some very good credit cards available. If you meet the requirements of one of these, you will be able to get a credit card that offers many nice features.
If you have just fair credit
What can you do if you have only average credit? You could apply for the Barclaycard® Rewards MasterCard. It offers a 0% introductory APR for the first 6 months on purchases and 0% interest. APR for 6 months on balance transfers.
